About Us
Welcome to Amateur Junior Golf Tour's (AJGT) web site. Junior golf is very special to our staff of golf professionals. It is with this passion that we have formed the Amateur Junior Golf Tour.
"Prestige Players Tour"
There are many junior tours in which juniors may participate, however AJGT felt it was time to have a special series designed just for Middle and High School players. AJGT will offer approximately 60 spots at each event for Middle and High School players. Tournaments will have a PGA tour atmosphere at each event. Players and Parents will be treated like special guests at each AJGT tour stop. The Prestige Players Tour begins in August and plays 10 events through May of each year. AJGT will host the "AJGT Tournament Of Champions" in May of each year open to all junior tournament winners across the southeast. The entry fees will be economical and lower than most major junior tours serving the Carolinas. Tournaments will be played at some of the top courses across the Carolinas.
Division of play
Middle School Division: All players (Boys and Girls) must be registered in the 6th grade by August for the year the season starts. 8th Graders may play until August after they finish 8th grade.
High School Division: All players must be registered in high school (Boys and Girls) for the year being played. Freshman must be enrolled for August classes of the year our season starts. Seniors can play until August after their graduation year.
"Carolina Local Series"
The purpose of having a local series is to prepare players at a young age to play on the "Prestige Players Tour". The local series will be open to any junior golfer ages 8 - 18. The divisions of play will be as follows:
Boys 8-9 (Front 9 Holes for competition, Back 9 Holes optional)
Boys 10-11 (18 Holes)
Boys 12-13 (18 Holes)
Boys 14-15 (18 Holes)
Boys 16-18 (18 Holes)
Girls 11-13 (18 Holes)
Girls 14-18 (18 Holes)
We will have 3 seasons of play in our local series. Spring January - May Summer June - August Fall September - December. To determined your division of play we will use your birthday at the start of each season. This will keep any player from gaining a age advantage over other players in the field. Each local series will host 25 to 30 events each year. Most of these events will be one day events to help cut down cost to parents. The 8-9 age division will have the option to play 18 holes, however their competition will be for 1st 9 holes.
Amateur Division Ages 19 And older : (Coming Summer 2010) All amateur players that are 19 and older (Men or Women) may play in this division. College players that are on a golf team must comply with the NCAA rules for competing in outside college events. They are as follows:
Notes for college players:
1. Members of a college golf team must play un-attached from the college they play for (this means no wearing of school logos during AJGT event).
2. Players on a college golf team must ask their coach for permission to play in AJGT event.
3. All college players must pay their own expenses to play in AJGT events.
